Transfer of Ownership

A Transfer of Ownership application applies to vessels registered under the Canadian Register of Vessels. This will transfer the said vessel’s oficial number to a new owner. This does not apply for pleasure craft with licence numbers on the bow. Example licence format, 1X111111, 11X111111 or XX111111. I understand that every person who provides false or misleading information commits an offence under Section 37 of the Canada Shipping Act, 2001. Change of Vessel Name And/Or Port Of Registry form allows the owner or authorized representative to change a vessels name or port of registry. This application is only applicable for vessels documented under the Large Vessel Registry system.

Alterations

Alterations or changes to a registered vessel can be reported using this form. Note: Alterations must be reported the same way in which the vessel was rst registered. If the vessel was registered by way of certicate of survey or marine safety inspector, the changes must be made by certicate of survey or marine safety inspector. You must contact a duly appointed tonnage measurer and he/she will complete the form. If the vessel was measured by the Simplied Method, a letter from you indicating the changes, as well as a signature of a Marine Safety Inspector will be required.

Deletion

A Deletion will provide proof of closing of a vessel’s Canadian registry, free and clear of all encumbrances. This will also provide a “Deletion Certificate”

Mortgage

This for allows you to apply for mortgage to be recorded against the vessel currently registered under the Canadian register of vessels. A mortgage can not be recorded against the vessel unless the vessel has a valid Certificate of Registry.

Provisional Certificate

A Provisional Certificate of Registry form temporarily allows a registered owner to move a vessel while awaiting completion of the Certificate of Registration. It may also allow for the movement of a vessel to a foreign country in the event that a buyer lives outside of Canada and the vessel must be transported to the new owner.
